This course introduces students to trauma, theodicy, and recovery. It looks at the spiritual care and psychotherapy strategies which assist individuals and groups to begin the healing process. This course will integrate various psychotherapeutic approaches to trauma assessment and treatment. The main themes of this course include issues such as: domestic violence; child/adult emotional-physical-sexual abuse; war trauma; criminality, political terror; natural disaster healing processes (including pandemics); vicarious trauma; and self-care. In theodicy, we explore how God has become silent, absent, or dangerous for those who have experienced trauma. Exclusion: TH668C.
